Double beta decay calculations and nuclear structure models — •Vadim Rodin1, Amand Faessler1, Fedor Šimkovic1,2, Charalampos Moustakidis1, and Larisa Pacearescu11Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Tübingen, Auf der Morgenstelle 14, D-72076 Tübingen, Germany — 2Department of Nuclear Physics, Comenius University, Mlynská dolina F1, Bratislava, Slovakia

The two-neutrino nuclear double-beta decay is the rarest decay process observed in nature. It can be considered a testing laboratory for the theoretical nuclear models aiming description of the neutrinoless nuclear double-beta decay. Observation of the latter would give unambiguous evidence for new physics beyond the standard model (see, e.g. [1] and references therein).

The transition amplitude of the two-neutrino nuclear double-beta decay calculated within QRPA is sensitive to neutron-proton correlations of the particle-particle type and a collapse of the amplitude can occur for realistic values of the model parameters [1]. Therefore, the calculation of the two-neutrino nuclear double-beta decay rates should involve all the modern machinery of the nuclear structure theory (account for nuclear deformation, pn pairing effects etc.). In the recent work [2] QRPA has been reformulated into more consistent Fully-Renormalized QRPA. In our talk we give a summary of the calculation results for the two-neutrino nuclear double-beta decay.
