Search for a bound ³He_η state in p+d collisions — •A. Gillitzer — IKP, Forschungszentrum Jülich

The measurement of the energy dependence of the p+d→³He_η→(pp)_spect(pπ⁻)_Nη reaction may reveal whether or not a quasi-bound ³He_η state exists. This formation reaction possibly leading to an η-mesic excitation of ³He was recently studied at the COSY-TOF Detector in a first experiment. The implications on the feasibility of the planned study of the ³He-η system will be discussed.
