Recently the pionic (d,3He) ransfer reaction on 112,116,120,124Sn targets was studied at the GSI Fragment Separator. The deeply bound pionic 1s state was observed in the Sn isotopes 115,119, and 123. The data analysis has now been completed[1]. The measured binding energies and widths will be discussed in terms of medium effects on the pion-nucleon interaction and its relation to the partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear matter.
