The isotopically resolved charge-pickup cross-sections in the reactions of 1 A GeV 208Pb with hydrogen, deuterium and titanium targets are measured with a high-resolution magnetic spectrometer at GSI. Measured total cross-sections follow nicely the general behaviour of other published data with projectile energy and target size. The isotopic distributions measured in this work are compared with the predictions of two intra-nuclear cascade models. While the change in the shape of the isotopic distribution with the target size can be explained by different excitation energies induced in the intra-nuclear stage, the situation is more delicate for the influence of projectile energy. To understand this, one needs to systematically extend our experimental knowledge as a basis for the development of improved models.
