Even if discovered more then 60 years ago, fission remains today , due to the large number of effects entering its description, subject of theoretical and experimental debates. At low energy, shell and pairing effects can in particular play a crucial role and namely give rise to multimodal fission, i.e. the coexistence of symmetric and asymmetric splitting. To describe the evolution of the compound nucleus along its path to fission we solve a multidimensional Langevin equation taking explicitly particle evaporation, which can occur all along the deformation process, into account. In parallel, the data obtained in a fusion-fission campaign are analyzed. The confrontation theory-experiment allow us to point out the assets but also the drawbacks of our dynamical fission model and to investigate possible improvements for which the first recent results look rather promising, concerning in particular dissipation and particle emission.
