Modulation of cosmic ray electrons in a non-spherical irregular heliosphere — •Klaus Scherer1, Stefan Ferreira2, and Marius Potgieter21Institut für Astrophysik und extraterrestrisch Forschung, Univerität Bonn, Germany — 2Unit for Space Physics, School of Physics, Potchefstroom UNiveristy for CHE, 2520 Potchefstroom, SA

With the Voayger 1 spacecraft approcahing the solar wind termination shock, much emphasis is on numerical models to simulate the physical parameters which can be expected at and beyond the termination shock. This work emphasis the global modulation of cosmic ray electrons in a realistic non-spherical heliosphere, e.g. the effects of cosmic ray modulation of a poleward elongation of the heliospheric boundary. To achieve this in addition to the Bonn model a new time-dependent modulation model is developed including the major modulation mechanism like drifts, diffusion, convection, energy changes, and asymmetric heliospheric structures. With the helpo of these models, we found that in the vicinity of the termination shock, the time-dependence and an irregular incursion in the shock geometry could account for the sudden increase in the measured at low-energy electron intensities on Voayger 1.
