Plasma wave damping processess considering anisotropic power spectra — •Felix Spanier, Ralf Kissmann, and Reinhard Schlickeiser — Institut für Theoretische Physik IV, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Universitätsstr. 150, 44801 Bochum
Radio observations in the interstellar medium show density fluctuations which are believed to stem from plasma waves. We have assumed an anisotropic power spectrum for the those plasma waves and calculated the heating rate of the ISM through different wave damping processes. As a result we were able to determine the relative strength of different wave modes and possible values of anisotropy.
