Perspectives of doublepolarization experiments — •Eric Gutz — Helmholtz-Institut für Strahlen- und Kernphysik, Nussallee 14-16, 53115 Bonn
The CBELSA-TAPS experiment at the electron accelerator ELSA investigates photoproduction of resonances off the nucleon. The usage of linearly polarized photons as probes is a powerful tool for such research. Experiments in this manner have been performed during the most recent beamtimes. Preliminary results on photon asymmetries in the reaction γ p → p π0 η will be shown.
In future experiments with the CBELSA detector not only linearly but also circularly polarized photons will be used as well as a longitudinally polarized reaction target. This will lead to the first experimental data taken with double polarization in an energy region above 2000 MeV. Such experiments yield a great discovery potential especially concerning the still unresolved questions regarding missing resonances and parity doublets. States in this region might not be disentangled using only photon polarization but seem to be very sensitive on double polarization observables. Sensitivity studies on this topic will be presented.
