Results from the A4 Parity Violating Experiment at MAMI — •Sebastian Baunack — Institut fuer Kernphysik, J.J. Becherweg 45, 55099 Mainz
The A4 collaboration at the Mainz Mikrotron MAMI is investigating the
contribution of strange quarks to the form factors of the nucleon. The
experimental method is the measurement of the parity violating asymmetry
in the cross section in the elastic scattering of polarized electrons off
unpolarized protons.
With a scattering angle of 35∘ and an electron energy of 854.3
MeV and 570.1 MeV, measurements have been taken for Q2=0.23 GeV2 and
Q2=0.1 GeV2 respectively. Both results and their implication on the
strangeness contribution will be presented.
Futhermore, the A4 collaboration has made measurements with transversely
polarized electrons to investigate the transverse single spin asymmetry.
Results for Q2=0.23 GeV2 will also be presented.
