Ion-optical layout of the beam line for a new dedicated experimental area for reaction experiments with exotic nuclei at the FRS — •N. Yao1, T. Aumann1,2, H. Emling2, H. Geissel1,2, G. Münzenberg 2, H. Simon2, H. Weick2, and M. Winkler1,2 — 1JLU Giessen — 2GSI Darmstadt
The projectile fragment separator FRS [1] at GSI has been successfully used for the production and isotopic separation of exotic nuclear beams for all elements up to uranium. Presently a dedicated experimental area will be installed to perform nuclear structure studies using direct reactions. Secondary products such as fragments, light charged particles, and neutrons are measured in complete kinematics. Here, we present the ion optical layout for the transport and separation of exotic nuclei into the new experimental area.
