Correlations in quark matter — •Frank Frömel, Stefan Leupold, and Ulrich Mosel — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Giessen, 35392 Giessen, Germany
We investigate the spectral functions of quarks and mesons in quark
matter in a self consistent approach. Relations between self energies
and spectral functions are used in an iterative calculation beyond
the usual mean-field and RPA approximations.
Starting from the pointlike interaction of the SU(2) Nambu–Jona-Lasinio
model we consider a full series of RPA type diagrams with dressed quarks
for the quark collision rate. These diagrams are summed up and
interpreted as dynamically generated mesons (σ, π) coupling
to the quarks. The results are fed back into the quark self energies to
obtain a self consistent scheme.
Calculations are performed at zero temperature and finite chemical
potential; in contrast to [1] the chirally broken phase is considered.
We obtain self consistent results for quark and meson masses and widths.
In addition the quark-meson coupling within our model is derived.
Deviations from mean-field calculations are discussed.
