We describe color interactions in the Chromodielectric Model
where the color electric flux is confined through the interaction with
a dielectric medium [1]. The model parameters are fixed to reproduce
lattice calculations for both the potential and the geometric
shape of qq flux tubes. We investigate the stability of these
qq strings i) in the presence of an external color electric
field and ii) with respect to q/q production in the field of
the string. In the former case we find that strings will dissolve for
background fields corresponding to an energy density of 200
MeV/fm3. In the latter case we present a tunnel potential for pair
creation.
