AGATA, the future European gamma-ray tracking spettrometer for nuclear structure studies, has many technical challenges. Compared to existing arrays, developments are needed concerning higher rates, better resolution, and improved position sensitivity. These goals will be achieved by digital processing of the signals from highly segmented HPGe detectors. Algorithms for energy determination and trigger generation have been developed already [1], however they have to be extended in order to meet the requirements for AGATA: 14 bit resolution, 100 MSample/s, and 50 kHz event rate. In our work, these algorithms have been coded and tested in C++ and VHDL. The actual hardware implementation has been done on a VME-board equipped with a Virtex-II FPGA. The tests have been performed with signals obtained from the 25-fold segmented MARS prototype detector [2]. The status of the work and preliminary results will be presented.
