GDH sum rule completed up to 3 GeV — •Jochen Krimmer — Physikalisches Institut der Universität Tübingen, Germany
The GDH sum rule connects helicity dependent total photoabsorption cross
sections with static properties of the nucleon like the mass and the
anomalous magnetic moment. Experiments for its direct experimental check
have been performed at the tagged photon facilities of the electron
accelerators MAMI and ELSA. Circularly polarized photons have been used
together with a longitudinally polarized nucleon target and 4π detector
systems. As the experiments cover an energy range from 200 MeV to 3 GeV,
double polarized photoabsorption cross sections are available for the first
time from the resonance region to the onset of
Regge behaviour. Furthermore, exploratory data have been taken on the
neutron with a polarized 6LiD target.
