A set of six coupled integral-equations for the S– and P–waves of the π K scattering amplitudes is derived and analyzed, using, for the first time, the most accurate experimental π K→ π K and ππ→ KK scattering data available at E≥ 1 GeV. Precise and unique solutions are obtained in the range E≤ 1 GeV. Our main result is the determination of a narrow allowed region for the two scattering lengths a01/2 and a03/2. Present experimental data below 1 GeV are found to be in generally poor agreement with our results. As an application of this analysis, we calculate a set of threshold and subthreshold parameters, as well as some low energy constants entering the calculations in the framework of Chiral Perturbation Theory.
