In the Symmetric Constant Relative Energy geometry
all three nucleons of the dp breakup reaction are emitted at relative
angles of 120∘ in the c.m. system. They have equal kinetic energies
and both protons are emitted symmetrically to a plane defined by the
reversed beam axis and the outgoing neutron. The SCRE final state can be
characterized in the c.m. system by the angle α between the neutron
momentum and the beam axis. The tensor analyzing power Ayy in this
geometry has been calculated in the framework of the three-nucleon Faddeev
theory using realistic nucleon-nucleon potentials. The comparison of older
dp breakup data at Ed→ = 94.5 MeV [1] and Ed→ = 52.1
MeV [2] with theoretical predictions had shown significant deviations. In
order to investigate, whether such deviations would appear at Ed→
= 19 MeV too, a breakup experiment with four SCRE and twelve adjacent
situations was designed. First results will be reported.
