Broad quasiparticles in hot QCD — •André Peshier — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Giessen, 35392 Giessen, Germany
The thermodynamics of the strongly coupled QCD plasma (just) above the
transition temperature Tc can be understood by interpreting the relevant
degrees of freedom as quasiparticles, with masses m ∼ g(T)T, which
become heavy near Tc.
Since the coupling strength g is large it is natural to ask for the width
of the quasiparticles, which parametrically behaves as g2T.
Discussed are the constraints, given by the equation of state as obtained
in lattice QCD, on the width as well as implications of the results.
