Eta production in p+p, d+Au and Au+Au-collisions at RHIC — •Baldo Sahlmüller — Universität Münster, Institut für Kernphysik
In the PHENIX-experiment at RHIC the suppression of high pT neutral pions in central Au+Au collisions relative to scaled yields measured in p+p and d+Au collisions as well as those measured in peripheral Au+Au collisions was observed. Protons, by contrast, do not show such a suppression in the pT-region between 2 and 4 GeV/c. Therefore it is important to study how this effect depends on the particle species.
In this talk, we present measurements from the PHENIX experiment of the eta yields as a function of centrality (Au+Au) as well as of the different reaction-systems (d+Au, p+p) with emphasis on the suppression factor. Comparisons to the suppression of other particle species will be presented.
