The ANTARES project is constructing a high energy neutrino telescope in the deep Mediterranean Sea. The telescope will use an array of photomultiplier tubes to detect the Cherenkov light emitted by muons resulting from the interaction of high energy neutrinos with matter.
Facing the high bioluminescence activity at the deployment site the effects of realistic optical background on the muon detection and reconstruction are studied and an adaptation is attempted. Furthermore, a joint reconstruction procedure of both muons and their accompanying shower is considered. This presentation outlines the main reconstruction methods and results.
