Tests of the Readout Electronics for the HERMES Silicon Recoil Detector — •Hristova Ivana — DESY Zeuthen, Platanenallee 6, D-15738 Zeuthen

Generalised Parton Distributions (GPDs) are opening a new route to understand the inner structure of nucleons. They can in principle be accessed in deeply-virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) in which a lepton scatters in a hard exclusive process from a nucleon target producing a high-energy real photon plus a recoiling nucleon. The developement of a recoil detector will optimise the HERMES experiment for measurements of the DVCS process and similar exclusive processes by detecting low momentum recoil protons which were not registered before. The Silicon part of the Recoil Detector consists of eight modules arranged in a double layer square tube around the target cell. Each module has two double-sided silicon strip detectors. The silicon detector uses the energy deposition of recoil protons to determine their momentum and also provides a tool for particle identification and track reconstruction. This presentation is focussing on the design and the laboratory tests of the readout electronics.
