Sampling ADC for Electromagnetic Calorimeter of COMPASS experiment — •I. Konorov, B. Grube, A. Mann, S. Paul, and L. Schmitt — TU-München, Physik-Department E18
The architecture, features and performance of the SADC(Sampling Analogue to Digital Converter) module designed and built for Electromagnetic calorimeter of COMPASS, a fixed target experiment at CERN’s SPS, are discussed. The SADC is a 32 channel, 12 bit and 80 Megasamples per second conversion rate module. The module has a memory to compensate trigger latency up to 4 useconds and zero suppression logic. The module provides amplitude information with a precision better then 12 bits. good timing information and it also has a capability to identify and resolve pileup events. The performance parameters of the SADC module are presented.
