Assembly and quality assurance of detector modules for the ATLAS SCT Endcaps — •Carmela Carpentieri — Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg
The Semiconductor Tracker (SCT) is a key part of the ATLAS Inner Detector, based upon silicon micro strip detector technology. To achieve the requested detector resolution, a highly precise module assembly and construction is required. This involves alignment of module components to the micron level. Our group at the University of Freiburg has implemented a semi-automatic system designed to assemble up to 5 modules per week during production time. A description of the multi-stage assembly will be given. The results and the experience from producing several prototypes and first serial modules will be presented.
