Measurement of Charm Production in Charged Current Deep Inelastic Scattering of e+p with the ZEUS Detector at HERA — •Meng Wang — Physikalisches Institut der Universität Bonn, Nussallee 12, 53115 Bonn
A first effort has been set out to measure charm quark production in charged current deep inelastic scattering with the ZEUS detector at the HERA collider in Hamburg. The data used for this measurement were collected at center-of-mass energies of 300 and 318 GeV. An integrated luminosity of 110.3 pb−1 for e+p scattering was used. The decay channel D*+ → D0πslow+ with D0 → K−π+ and the charge-conjugated channel were used to identify charm quark. The Monte Carlo generator DJANGOH was used to simulate charged current events with enriching selected D*± decay channels. The backgrounds from neutral current, photoproduction as well as non-ep scattering events were studied. Preliminary observations are presented.
