Isospin breaking a0-f0 mixing: a tool to investigate the structure of the light scalar mesons — •Christoph Hanhart1, Markus Büscher1, Vera Kleber1, Sigfried Krewald1, Ulf-G. Meissner1,2 und Hans Ströher1 — 1IKP, Forschungszentrum Jülich — 2HISKP, Univ. Bonn
Although studied since many years, the structure of the light scalar mesons a0(980) and f0(980) is still under debate. After the discovery of the DsJ⋆(2317)+ this discussion has even intensified, since all these three resonances might be of similar nature. Additional observables are called for to pin down the structure of the light scalar mesons. In this context the isospin breaking a0-f0 mixing plays an exceptional role since it is sensitive to the overlap of the two wave functions. In the talk it will be shown that a measurement of the reactions pn→ dπ0 η and dd→ α π0 η close to the K K production threshold is ideally suited to unambigously extract the a0−f0 mixing matrix element. The corresponding experimental program that has been started at COSY-Jülich will be described, first data will be presented, and the theoretical and experimental uncertainties of the extraction of the mixing matrix element will be discussed.
