Search for Giant Pulses of the Crab Pulsar at Optical Wavelengths — •Peter Kroetz, German Hermann, Jim Hinton, and Stefan Funk — Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik, Heidelberg
We present first results of our search for optical giant pulses of the Crab Pulsar. The observation was done using a custom built camera consisting of 7 photomultipliers, with a 30 kHz current readout, mounted on one of the H.E.S.S. Cherenkov telescopes. Data was taken from mid-October to November 2003. For the second half of the observation period, the measurements can be compared to radio data, which have been taken simultaneously. These data will be used to search for correlations between giant radio pulses and the optical emission of the Crab Pulsar.
