FS-Study on Carotenoid to Bacteriochlorophyll Energy-Transfer in Light-Harvesting1 Complexes from Rhodospirillum rubrum with Carotenoids of Different Conjugation Lengths — •Peter Gaertner1, Helmut Port1, Markus Branschaedel2 und Robin ghosh2 — 13. This contribution comprises a comparative fs-spectroscopic study on light-harvesting complexes 1 (LH1) from mutants of Rhodospirillum rubrum (R.r.). These complexes contain carotenoids (Car) of different conjugation lengths (n=13 or n=11, resp.), but no reaction center. After selective excitation of different electronic states of the pigments and comparison with the LH1 of a carotenoid-less mutant, we are able to draw conclusions about Car to Bacteriochlorophyll (BChl) energy-transfer.
