An Experimental Search for Ferromagnetic Supercooled o-H2 Clusters — •Oleg Kornilov1,2, Anton Kalinin1,3, and J. To achieve a macroscopically coherent superfluid state in supercooled hydrogen temperatures below 6.6 K have been predicted [1]. To avoid solidification below the triple point at 13.7 K hydrogen clusters formed in a free jet supersonic expansion provide No-dqidealNo-dq conditions owing to the lack of container walls and impurities, which could nucleate the solid. We are searching for the superfluidity of ortho-H2 clusters based on their predicted ferromagnetic behavior [2]. A Rabi-type inhomogeneous magnetic field will be used to study spin states of moderate-size clusters formed in a cryogenic expansion of normal hydrogen. By seeding with helium the magnetic deflection will be increased and at the same time the hydrogen clusters will be cooled to about 0.37 K by evaporating of helium atoms from their surface.
