We study the dynamics of fermions and that of mixtures of fermions and bosons in a 1D optical lattice. By exciting the dipolar oscillation we find a damping of the center of mass motion and a localization of the cloud on one side of the potential. The role of collisions in this damping and localization process is investigated and reveals interesting phenomena like a collisionally induced transport. The current state of the experiment is reported.
