We show that nonlinear wave interaction processes in Photonic Crystals exhibit certain peculiar properties which originate from the rich photonic band structure of such systems. These include the creation and manipulation of gap solitons in defect-free systems as well as the trapping of solitons at defect sites. In view of applications of these phenomena in all-optical logic elements, we emphasize that the stability of solitary waves in these systems is very important.
