In this work we investigated the influence of loading frequencies on the fatigue life of squeeze cast AZ31 magnesium alloy. The density of AZ3–SC was determined to be 99,5 % of the theoretical value. The experiments were performed in the high cycle fatigue regime. The fatigue limit (for 10−7 cycles) for 20 Hz and 10 Hz was in the range of 40 – 45 MPa. Fatigue cracks were found to be initiated on the specimen surface. No porosity was detected at the crack initiation sites by optical and scanning electron microscopy.
