Nanoelectronic transport through a spin-polaron system — •Frank Reininghaus, Thomas Korb, and Herbert Schoeller — Institut für Theoretische Physik A, RWTH Aachen, Germany
We consider non-equilibrium transport of electrons through a polarised quantum spin chain of finite length. We model the chain by an itinerant electron system exchange-coupled to the spins of the chain locally. This model has been previously considered for several types of magnetic semiconductors. The spins are treated within the spin-wave approximation. This enables us to use the Keldysh technique. In equilibrium the elementary excitations of this system are spin-polarons. We are interested in the effect of the spin-polaron on the electronic transport through the chain. We expect that the transport strongly depends on the spin of the injected electrons.
