Galaxy formation from primordial black hole seeds — •Norbert Düchting — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität zu Köln, Zülpicher Str. 77, 50937 Köln, Germany
The observational evidence for supermassive black holes (SMBHs) at redshifts z≥ 6 poses a great challenge for models describing the formation of galaxies. Here, I discuss whether these SMBHs can arise from seeds of primordial black holes (PBHs), which have been produced by the collapse of large primordial density fluctuations in the early universe. In particular, I study the expected number densities of PBHs in the relevant mass range (1−106 M⊙) for several classes of spectra of primordial density fluctuations and confront the results with observational data.
