This talk deals with gravitating monopoles in asymptotic de Sitter/Anti-de Sitter space-time. First, I will talk about global monopole solutions in (3+1) space-time dimensions. Contrary to another recent publication, it was found in [1] that the inclusion of a cosmological constant can not render the mass of the global monopole positive.
In the second part of the talk, I will focus on solutions of a five-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills model with non-vanishing cosmological constant [2]. Assuming all fields to be independent of the extra coordinate, a dimensional reduction leads to an effective (3+1) dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs dilaton model where the cosmological constant induces a Liouville potential in the dilaton field. Analytic and numerical solutions of the equations are presented.
