On the Foundation of the World — •Rainer E. Zimmermann — a,b

It has been shown at various occasions (for instance in my System des transzendentalen Materialismus, Mentis, Paderborn, 2004) that recent results of modern physics can be utilized for philosophy in order to shed some more light onto the foundations of the world provided the role of philosophy is reinterpreted in the sense that it is not any more fundamental itself for the sciences, but that instead it takes into sight all what the sciences offer as their results by conceptually unifying them and looking then for their foundation. For physics in turn, philosophy can unfold its heuristic potential which may point towards lines of orientation within the framework of modern scientific thinking. Under these aspects this present paper can be visualized as demonstrating a possibility to discuss the relationship between the foundation of the world and the empirical world as we know it. This idea is explicated in some detail using the theory of loop quantum gravity as an example. The fundamental state of spin networks is being discussed and implications are being shown as to the state of the concepts of space and time related to them.
