Albert Einstein’ Light Quanta and the Reception in India. — •Rajinder Singh — Universität Oldenburg, Institut für Physik
It is a well-known fact that Einstein’s postulate of the quantum nature of light had to face criticism. While the Western men/women of science were disputing about the existence of light quanta, the Indian physics community, which had just started emerging, went its own way. In this communication I explore the views and work of SN Bose (the co-founder of Bose-Einstein Statistics), MN Saha (known for Saha or Eggert-Saha ionisation equation) and CV Raman (founder of Raman spectroscopy) related to this issue
