Zn1−xMnxSe is a potential spin aligner in spintronic devices. We determine the free-charge-carrier effective mass m of doped n-type Zn1−xMnxSe:Cl grown by molecular beam epitaxy using magnetooptic generalized ellipsometry at far-infrared wavelengths (100−650  cm−1) and external magnetic fields B = ±3 T. A clear decrease of m(Zn1−xMnxSe, x>0) compared with m(ZnSe) is observed. We furthermore report on the composition dependent MnSe- and ZnSe-like phonon mode frequencies for the composition range from x=0 to 0.2.
