Element specific quantitative analysis of magnetic domains is a well known task for the x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (X-MCD) in combination with a photoemission electron microscope (PEEM). Usually this method yields one projection of the magnetization direction only. We present a method exploiting magnetic effects in photoemission (MCD, MLDAD) which yields at least two magnetization directions by switching the polarization of the x-rays only. This is demonstrated for domains at the Fe(100) surface. The imaging of photoelectrons up to a kinetic energy of 1600eV with a lateral resolution in the 100nm range is made possible by the new developed nano-ESCA.
