Influence of chirp on the time-resolved CARS signal of molecular iodine — •S. Pezeshki, U. Kleinekathöfer, and M. Schreiber — Institut für Physik, Technische Universität Chemnitz, 09107 Chemnitz

Using time-dependent wave packet calculations we determine the femtosecond time-resolved coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) signal for molecular iodine in the gas phase. It has been shown before [1,2] that depending on the delay-time between the laser pulses the third-order polarization exhibits oscillations caused by the wave packet motion on the ground and/or on the excited state. In the present investigation we focus on the influence of chirp of one or more of the three laser pulses on the CARS signal. In addition to interesting features arising from differently chirped laser pulses, this study is of interest in the context of coherent control in such systems. Comparison to experiments is in preparation.
