One important part of a closed loop set-up for coherent control experiments is the optimization algorithm. It drives a pulse-shaper and searches for the optimal pulse shape guiding the experiment into the desired target state. We use a 640 pixel SLM based pulse shaper to manipulate the phase of pulses delivered by a Ti:Sapphire CPA laser system. A pulse compression experiment utilizing a two-photon process as feedback serves as an exemplary coherent control experiment. The behavior of different nondeterministic optimization algorithms has been examined by simulations of the given experiment. The convergence behavior is compared to the experimental results.
