Production of hohlraum targets for laser and ion experiments — •Thomas Heßling, Gabriel Schaumann, Markus Roth, and Abel Blažević — TU Darmstadt
Hohlraum targets are used in high energy laser experiments as X-ray converters. They allow the indirect and uniform heating of a secondary target for further experiments like energy loss measurements of ions in plasma. The advantage of hohlraum targets is their radiation field which approximately exhibits a Planckian shape. We present the manufacturing process of such hohlraum targets made of gold. They are created with different techniques like electroplating and photo lithography. Further we will give a short overview of the experiments that will be performed with the PHELIX laser at GSI.
