Edge Biasing at the WEGA Stellarator — •Oliver Lischtschenko, Ralf König, Matthias Otte, and Friedrich Wagner — Max- Planck- Institut für Plasmaphysik, 17491 Greifswald, EURATOM Assoziation

The WEGA stellarator being a classical stellarator uses ECR heating with a total maximum power of 26 kW at a frequency of 2.45 GHz. By applying an external voltage to a graphite limiter biasing experiments at the edge of the plasma have been performed. The main focus of observation was the poloidal rotational velocity of the plasma. Various diagnostic techniques, such as a laser- atom- absorption- spectroscopy, 2D MOSS spectrometry [1], ultra high resolution grating spectrometry as well as Langmuir probes, have been employed to observe the plasma. The observations have been carried out under varrying conditions regarding heating power, as well as gas type and neutral gas pressure.
