In recent magnetic confinement plasma devices cryogenic hydrogen pellets are used not only for tailoring the core plasma profile but also for edge plasma control by frequent small and shallow penetrating pellets. For this ELM (Edge Localized Mode) frequency control cryogenic hydrogen pellets with injection frequency of about 100 Hz and velocity of 50-200 m/s are required as was shown in proof of principle measurement on ASDEX Upgrade tokamak. In this paper - as a possible solution - the development of Leidenfrost pellet injector is detailed and the results of the first test are presented. With this Leidenfrost injector hydrogen pellets - size of 2x2x2 mm3 - are accelerated in a propellant gas flow reaching a high repetition rate up to 140 Hz and velocity up to 250 m/s.
