We present the status of an experiment which aims at studying Cs2 molecules in the a 3Σu+ triplet ground state. The molecules are formed from a sample of laser cooled Cs atoms by photoassociation and state-sensitively detected using two-photon ionization and time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The optical dipole trap formed by the focus of a CO2 laser represents a quasi-electrostatic trap which enables simultaneous trapping of molecules and atoms (Li and Cs in our case) and hence facilitates studies of atom-molecule collisions, molecule-molecule collisions and chemical reactions involving cold Cs2 molecules.
