The CMS Data Acquisition and Trigger System — •Alexander Oh — CERN
An overview of the CMS Trigger and Data Acquisition System (TriDAS) is given. The system is designed to inspect the detector information at the full crossing frequency of 40 MHz and to select events at a maximum rate of O(100) Hz. CMS has made the decision to have instead of the traditional multistage trigger only a level one trigger and a high level software trigger. This requires a high performance event building network to be able to build events at the full level one trigger frequency of 100 kHz. The technological challenges and the research activities towards the final system will be discussed.
