Deeply-virtual Compton Scattering on Neon at Hermes — •Sebastian Haan — DESY Hamburg HERMES
The intention of the HERMES experiment at DESY is to study the spin structure of the nucleon. The data presented here have been accumulated by scattering the polarized 27.6 GeV lepton beam of the HERA accelerator on a unpolarized neon gas target. The dynamical correlations between quarks and gluons are described within the theoretical framework of Generalized Parton Distributions(GPDs). In the case of coherent hard exclusive processes on nuclei it was pointed out that information about the distribution of energy, pressure, and shear forces inside nuclei become accessible. To access GPDs the hard exclusive leptoproduction of real photons is meassured(Deeply-virtual Compton Scattering, DVCS). Due to interference between DVCS and Bethe-Heitler processes the previous can be accessed through the azimuthal single beam-spin asymmetry. This talk will discuss preliminary results from neon.
