Search for steady point sources with the AMANDA neutrino telescope — •Elisa Bernardini, Tonio Hausschildt, and Markus Ackermann — DESY Zeuthen, Platanenallee 6, 15738 Zeuthen
The AMANDA Collaboration has recently completed the analysis of four years of data, from 2000 to 2003. More than 3000 up-going neutrino-induced events have been selected, showing high reconstruction quality. The impovement in the sensitivity to neutrino point sources consists of about a factor 3 with respect to previous results. This achievement is due to better background rejection power and reconstruction efficiency. No evidence for steady point sources of neutrinos has been so far observed and upper limits are derived. One model for neutrinos from microquasars has been excluded. In this talk the unified 4-year analysis of AMANDA data to search for steady point sources will be illustrated, together with its implications and an outlook to sensitivities expected in the following years from AMANDA and IceCube.
