Time study and multi-wavelength comparison of selected neutrino point source candidates — •Elisa Resconi, Markus Ackermann, Elisa Bernardini, and Tonio Hausschildt — DESY Zeuthen, Platanenalle 6, 15738 Zeuthen
Most of the sources of interest for a neutrino telescope like AMANDA show frequent, violent variations in the complete electromagnetic spectrum. Following this basic observation we have tested, for the period 00-03 of AMANDA data the hypothesis that neutrino production in such sources is more probable to happen when the source is in a high activity state. Under favourable conditions of signal enhancement and period duration, “neutrino flares” might be detectable with a dedicated time variability investigation although not being evident in the “standard” AMANDA 4-year analysis results. The different methods developed will be reported and results discussed.
