The analysis of data from the AMANDA neutrino telescope allows to identify each year about 800 upgoing neutrino-induced events with high quality. No evidence of steady point-like or diffused sources of extraterrestial neutrinos has been obtained so far. The detected events are hence ascribed to atmospheric neutrinos. Besides being a source of background for the search of astrophysical neutrinos, atmospheric neutrinos are the major source of calibration for AMANDA. So far, its characterization was based on the reconstruction of the energy and angular spectrum. More recently, the indication of a seasonal variation in the event rate has been found. To ascribe this effect to a variation in the target density for interaction of cosmic rays in the atmosphere, a correlation with variation in the atmospheric temperature needs to be proven. The effect will be illustrated, together with the current status of the analysis.
