CVD Diamond Studies for a Beamcalorimeter of the ILC Detector — •Katerina Kouznetsova, Christian Grah, Wolfgang Lange, and Wolfgang Lohmann — DESY, Platanenallee 6, 15738 Zeuthen
CVD diamonds are considered as a promising sensor material for a beam calorimeter of a future ILC detector. The beam calorimeter is positioned adjacent to the beam pipe and exposed to radiation doses of 10 MGy per year. CVD diamond is expected to be sufficiently radiation hard. Monte Carlo simulations have shown that a dynamic range of O(1000) is necessary for a good performance of the calorimeter.
Diamond sensors of different manufacturers are studied in a testbeam and with radioactive sources. Results on the homogeneity and the linearity of the sensors are presented. Also studied is the behavior under low radiation doses.
