Status report and first results of the MAGIC telescope — •Florian Goebel — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik, München, Germany

The 17m diameter MAGIC Cherenkov telescope for gamma astronomy in the energy range between 30 GeV and several TeV has been commissioned in 2004. I will report on the performance of the telescope and its novel technological components. First results of the observation program will be presented.
